Thursday: The Importance of the Arts—Motherhood in Art

Beautiful Paintings Capturing Motherhood

Camille Monet and Child Madame Vigee-Lebrun and Her Daughter, Jeanne-Lucie-Louise (1780-1819) 1789 Giclee Print by Marie Louise Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun Madame Vigee LeBrun and Child

A friend had this posted on her blog, it is beautiful as well:

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

    Have you seen the painting with the nursing Mermaid? The Pyramid collection (pyramidcollection.com) had a lot of cool artwork and jewelry that you can purchase that features motherhood like the painting I was talking about. It’s really cool.

    I LOVE this! I’ve been wanting (for a long time) to put together a book for myself of motherhood paintings. These are some of my top favorites. Maybe if I ever do the book, I’ll give you one too!

    You picked a good topic for this post and you wrote about it well. I have seen a few other sites with similar content but no 1 has done a better job than you on writing about it.
