Yes or No

August 18th, 2009 in Life

My husband and I are having a disagreement on home decor and we need help on who is right. We are both terribly stubborn and set in our ways!

Around this framed family tree (which will have color in it btw, colored leaves with names on them) I wanted a collage of pictures to fill the wall.

Does this work? Does it look nice? I say yes. My husband says no.

Vote away and if you have suggestions let me know!

Can I say yes AND no? I like the idea, it’s cute, but I’m not loving the way it’s laid out! So, YES because you have a fun idea there!

It’s perfect. What’s better to decorate your home than photos of your family?? And I like the way it’s laid out.

I too love the concept but I think putting the photos up without frames detracts from the chic style of the family tree and kind of reminds me of what we do with our friends’ Christmas cards (put them up just like that but on our pantry door). I would definitely put family photos all around but I’d frame them and just choose your very most favorites. Definitely use different sizes of frames, but I’d keep them all the same color (like black). Just my two cents, but I’m no interior designer!

I agree with Emily and Melissa. Concept cute, but would fix the layout and I like the idea of different sized frames also. It just needs to be cleaned up a bit, too clustered or maybe too many photos. I can’t put my finger on it. I love family photo walls though.

I too think the pictures should be framed. But I don’t particularly like the tree. I love all the pictures. But I am no decorator so please ignore me.

Paul says no. I think that it’s a great idea. I love different stuff, and I like things that you don’t see in every house you are in. =) Do you what makes you happy. Our house is to represent ourselves…

I actually like the way it is. I think you could definitely add a few more photos to balance it out and it’ll be perfect!! Frames would also look very nice but would give it an all together different feel. This is very chic homey feel!

I really enjoy the concept but the way you have it is unbalanced. I really like them unframed though.

I think the layout is great, it reminds me of the tufts of a tree, especially when you squint.

Though I would like to see frames on all of the photos, just for consistency.

I love love the idea, however it looks a little lopsided. So I have to say both yes and no! Great idea though!

I love the idea, but think that: 1st-all of the prints need to be framed and 2nd-if you want that many pictures (which I think is super cute)that maybe they all need to be smaller pictures, like 4×6 or smaller. Just a thought, because I am going to do something similar going up our stairs. (when I have the money)

I love it. I think it will really pop when the colorful leaves are added. I love it!

I love this idea. Especially the black and white – LOVE them. I would probably frame the photos though. So, you probably won’t get to put as many up on the wall, but I do like the unbalanced look. I’m curious about what the trees will look like when they are finished.

    Good luck,
    Kara
