We are here! Costa Rica!

December 5th, 2011 in Nature, Our Travels Worldwide

We arrived, we survived and our kids are… quite grumpy! Ha, that is A-ok — they will adapt soon. Our first day was very low key and the kids are tucked safe in bed for a long night of sleep.

Let me write down a few notes from our trip so far:

  • In the stores around here, it isn’t “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service.” It’s “No Shirt, No Shoes, Your Kid Running Around in Just Underwear, Wow You Really Should Buy a Larger Bikini YES Service.” Which Abby finds quite G-R-DOUBLE-OSS. I, on the other hand, really need to get in shape!
  • When you call your travel company and the airlines and they say — “YES! Family seating, sitting in the bulkhead with a bassinet, no problem!” — they are lying, lying lying. They really mean, “We will make you stand in the check-in line for 2 hours, miss your first flight, be unable to register one of your daughters in the system, no you are wrong no one said yes to you about bulk head or family seating, oh sorry we forgot to seat your family TOGETHER and we really don’t care one little bit about it.” Oh oh oh, and they lose your portacrib which is really nice to do to someone travelling internationally with a 7 month old.
  • This beautiful pool below all to ourselves+nighttime+our kids going to bed like good kids=BOWCHICKABOWWOW.
  • It is BEAUTIFUL. So far I love it one million times more than Panama. Our front yard is the jungle and our backyard is the ocean.
She couldn't wait to get her hands on these!
Nice for her to see a little reminder of home...
Fish market...oh, the fish!

Heading upstairs to eat on the roof...all cooking by DADDY!
Our front yard...
And then...our backyard:

Look, you can even have huge tantrums in "COCORISTO!"
Poor baby doll is getting a nasty top side tooth.

So far we have just been lying low, trying to get the kids back to happy, well-rested kiddos. We’ve been buying groceries for the house, exploring the city we are staying in a bit, finding a fish market, coloring, watching movies, swimming, walking along the beach and watching all the surfers. In the morning we embark on our journey to go on a Crocodile Tour…with all our three kiddos…yes, we are crazy and yes, please wish us luck.

Oh, and I’ll have to tell you all about what the scratching is on our roof all night…they are EVERYWHERE around here!
