Very Last Minute Dinner Party
Does your husband ever do this to you?
Its 11pm at night and he asks you if it is okay that he moved dinner with friends up a week and maybe added a few more guests, all of whom have lived in or are visiting from Spain. You know you can’t throw together some sour cream enchiladas or taco salad (we aren’t fond of those two things anyway) for these people. They know how to eat! They have lived or are currently living in SPAIN!
So you then you grab a cookbook on your way out of the house as you rush to a very empty, very dark grocery store wondering what in the world you are going to come up with to serve your dinner guests.
Well, in case this does happen to you let me TELL you what to do and I guarantee you will pull together quite an amazing feast.
Sides:
Bread:
By now it’s almost midnight. What grocery store is going to have fresh bread you can serve? No one, believe me. But man, all you need to do is rub it with olive oil, season it, wrap it in foil and warm it up. That’s all it takes.
Main Dish:
I am about to tell you one of my biggest secrets, the recipe for the perfect no-fail, restaurant-quality alfredo sauce. One stick of unsalted butter, one stick of cream cheese, one cup of cream and one cup of fresh Parmesan.
Perfect consistency without fail.
Dessert:
No time for something from scratch, no time for something that didn’t take less than a couple of minutes. How could this have been one of the best cakes I have ever made? Well, let me tell you!
Voila! “Crazy, Late-Notice Dinner Party” done! We loved having you guys!

Wow! You are a domestic diva to come up with all that at the last minute. I’ll be coming back to use these ideas. It all sounds D-lish!!
Well done! That alfredo looks very naughty, but very yummy. I don’t have a good “restaurant qualtiy” alfredo. Thanks for sharing.
Why don’t you have a FOODIE blog as well?? You never cease to amaze me…

THANKS AGAIN.
and sorry again for the late night.

Wow. I wish I could make something so grand look so simple. Soooo, I have this shower next Saturday….:)
Hm. That’s only happened to me twice.
Or never.
That alfredo sauce looks divine…and easy too!
A few quick questions:
(1) When you say cream, do you mean “heavy cream”?
(2) Do you just put all of the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer?
(3) When the sauce is ready, do you toss with noodles and, if so, what kind?
Finally… a recipe for alfredo sauce that looks doable
Thanks!
