Thursday: The Importance of the Arts—Music with Boomwhackers

We had so much fun playing with these “Boomwhackers” this week. Have you heard of these?

They are long colorful tubes that produce various tones. You hit them against anything (not to hard!) to play the tone on the side of the tube. Starting at middle C and extending up to high C; a different color is used for each pitch: C1 (red); D1 (orange); E1 (yellow); F1 (light green); G1 (aqua); A1 (violet); B1 (fuchsia); C2 (red).

What a fun introduction to “music lessons” before your child is even old enough to actually sign up for a music lesson!

And now….dedicated to my little brother….Mission Impossible Boomwhacker style….

My husband decided that these are some of the coolest things ever and we need to buy some.

Nice idea! I had an octave of boomwhackers myself though they are the octave higher and more compact. The longer ones sound like they must be more resonant and also the video must have been recorded in quite a resonant school hall or somewhere like that.
