Thursday: The Importance of The Arts–Irish Dance

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a little longer by Irish dancing around the house with the kiddos.

Irish dancing is notable for it’s rapid leg movements, body and arms being kept largely stationary.

Did you know that this type of dance came from the evolutionary descendants of the Quadrilles danced at the French court in the late 18th and early 19th century? These dances were brought to Ireland and taught by the early dancing masters who adapted them to Irish traditional music and modified and elaborated them to show off their dancing prowess.

Show off your “dancing prowress” by watching the above video with your kids and having some fun!
