This Is The Way We Make the Hot Chocolate

December 21st, 2011 in recipes

Note: Hot *CHOCOLATE* not Cocoa…which is definitely how it should be made during the holidays.

Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 cups whole milk & 2 cups half-and-half OR 3 cups of milk & 1 1/2 cups of cream (sometimes I will use skim if I don’t want it as rich)
    • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
    • 4 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Directions

Heat the milk or cream or half and half  in a saucepan on medium heat to almost the simmering point. Remove the pan from the heat and add chocolate. Whisk hard and fast and add the sugar and vanilla as well. Serve as soon as possible.

*Serve with Challah bread that Harmons make just on Fridays!
