Sub for Santa

November 17th, 2009 in About Me

I would love help in spreading the word about the Sub for Santa program.  You can share this post through email, twitter, facebook or even post about it on your blog.  Feel free to copy and post away.

Sub for Santa with the United Way is across the country.  Even if you don’t have the money to host a family, there are still things you can do to be involved.

But can I say this? Some years we can do Sub for Santa for more than one family and other years just one.  But I will tell you this- we will do our best to always do this even if our budget is tight. Participating in the Sub for Santa program has helped me realize that WE REALLY DO ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH.  More simple Christmases are much more fulfilling and it has MADE us realize what the holiday season is about.

Sub for Santa is a temporary assistance program that provides gifts for children in need. Last year, Sub for Santa provided gifts for more than 5,400 children. United Way is anticipating a higher number of applicants this year because of the current economic situation. Whether you can donate a little or a lot, there are many ways to get involved with Sub for Santa.

Ways to donate:

· Become a Sub for Santa sponsor. Sponsors provide five reasonably priced gifts for each child they sponsor: two new items of clothing, two new toys and one book.  United Way of Utah County will provide sponsors with information about the family including children’s ages, sizes, gift ideas and other details. Sponsors will then contact the parent(s) to arrange a time for delivering gifts.

· Donate through Angel Tree. Volunteers select the name, age and gift ideas from the Angel Tree located at Macy’s at University Mall in Orem. After purchasing the gifts, volunteers drop gifts off at the University Mall for delivery.

· Make a financial contribution.  Help Sub for Santa families in our community with a contribution. Volunteers will use the donations to purchase gifts for children who would otherwise not be sponsored.

· Donate your time. Volunteers are also needed to deliver gifts for the Angel Tree program, especially to rural areas in Utah County.

For more information visit here, become a fan of United Way of Utah County on Facebook or visit their blog.

Once again please help me in spreading the word about this! Thanks in advance!

Our family typically sponsor’s a family for sub for santa each year. This year I am co-chairing a fundraiser for Toys 4 Tots and may miss out on our sub 4 santa tradition. I am glad to see so many people getting in the spirit and willing to help this year even with times being tough.

Interestingly enough, less energy is required to disrupt signal from tower to mobile phone, than the signal from mobile phone

I know a wonderful couple with a son who has downsyndrome. They are having a very hard time due to health issues. Jesse cant recieve Sub for Santa through the United Way
because he is 17 years old. This special boy deserves a visit from Santa. He is still just a little boy at heart.
