One Word that Describes You: (just one?!)  Observant.

What makes you smile? A good (clean) joke and British comedies.

What is one of your dreams you hope to accomplish soon? Finishing my degree.  The year I took off of school turned into 9 years.  I’m itching to go back.

One of Your favorite motherhood moments? When each of my babies laughed for the first time.  Pure joy.

What is your guilty pleasure? Reading a cooking magazine cover to cover in one sitting.

What do you love most about you? I’m always in search of something new to learn about.  I crave knowledge.  When I decide to learn about a certain subject, I go full force and read as much as I can.

Favorite Place? Six years ago, before my grandfather passed away, he took me, my husband, my mom, and my sisters to visit the small island in Norway where his father was born and where his cousins still live.  I’ve been to some beautiful places, but Norway is stunning.  The food ain’t bad either.

Who is your hero? Khaliel Kelly, my husband’s aunt.  I have a hard time putting into words the love and admiration I have for her.  Her love and wisdom have gotten me through a lot of hard times.  I’ve been able to look up to her as the perfect example of what the kind of woman, wife and mother I want to be.  I am definitely a better person because of her.  She’s my second mother.

Your advice to Moms Who Want To Work Towards a Fresh Clean Start and Take Their Family Along for the Ride:

Everyone can start over.  I believe that.  For me, starting over meant that I needed to make some pretty big changes.  I needed to do more than a little spring cleaning of the soul.

My advice is pretty simple–taken an inventory of yourself and who you are.  First, write down the kind of person you want to be.  I’m talking about the kind of qualities you want to have, goals you want to accomplish.  Describe the ideal YOU.  Then make a plan of how you want to do it.  It’s a continuing process.  I love the idea that we can always be engaged in bettering ourselves–learning more, changing bad behaviors and habits.  It’s wonderful.

Check in each day and see how you are doing.  It takes work, as I’ve realized.  But it’s good work and it’s worth it.  I think as women, we tend to neglect ourselves in ways other than our appearance.  We sometimes forget those hopes and dreams we had as little girls.  I don’t think it’s too late to modify those dreams if we need to or create new ones.

My “fresh clean start” has been a gift to my family.  Look to them for support.  Chances are they will cheer you on and decide to better themselves too.

How many of you just love Lindsey like I do? When she decided to stop blogging over at her old blog Cafe Johnsonia honestly I was really sad! Almost wondering if it was bordering on weird until I heard from quite a few online friends that they felt the same way. Boy was I excited to see her back. We missed you Lindsey!
