One Word that Describes You: ME

What makes you smile? My friends, my family, silly movies, my kids when they do something new and are excited about it, gorgeous days, calm days, baby kitties (baby anything!)…

What is one of your dreams you hope to accomplish soon? I love doing photography and designing templates for photographers. I’ve really been working hard to get my name out there and I’d love for it to pay off some time in the near future.

What gives you anxiety as a mother? Having a hard time sitting back and enjoying the moment and letting my kids be kids.

How do you deal with it? I’m not sure yet!! 😉 No, it’s really just one of those things that I have to remind myself of every day.

What is your guilty pleasure? It depends on the day. I’m a totally salty and sweet girl, so it could go either way. I love cheesecake, curly fries from Arby’s, chocolate, okay…just about anything SWEET!

What do you love most about you? Despite the fact that I often doubt myself, I am really a crafty, creative and artsy person. I love that I know how to take gorgeous pictures and then scrapbook those when I have the time.

Favorite place? One of my favorite places in the world is Lake Powell. My dad bought a boat the year I was born and I’ve been going ever since (20-something years ago). I love the warmth and water, making sand toilets* and relaxing. I just love it there.

Who is your hero?
I have many family and friends who all in their own ways are my hero. My dad because he is who he is and doesn’t let others change that. My sister because is such an optimist. My husband because he’s such a hard worker and loves so deeply. Just to name a few…

Your advice to other moms: Well, one thing I’ve noticed about moms is that we are ALL the same. We all struggle in our own ways and that’s a GOOD thing. Don’t try to be super mom. Give yourself a break, nobody is perfect.

*Sand toilets clarification from Melissa: “When I was a kid, my sister and I would spend hours at the beach digging big holes and then we’d sit in them. lol…they kind of adopted the name “sand toilets”. I didn’t even think about it when I wrote it! LOL It’s just a sand toilet. Bawhahaha!”
