Monday’s Maven

December 7th, 2009 in Monday's Maven

Monday’s Maven

Full Name: Jordan Mangum

blog: My Angle of Repose

Kids: Seth (6), Lucy (4), Hazel (3), Avery (19 months)

Location: Durham, NC

One Word that Describes You:

Restless

What makes you smile? The things my children say, a plate full of good food, a clean house, harvest from the garden, happy children, a new coat

What is one of your dreams you hope to accomplish soon? Create a music room in the house, take the whole family abroad, build a chicken coop in the backyard, go to law school…(I know you said just one, I couldn’t choose)

One of Your favorite motherhood moments?

Listening and watching my children discover the world.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Guilty…pleasure…hmmm.  McDonald’s French Fries.  They’re the best.

What do you love most about you? I’m never bored, there’s always something going on in my head at least.

Favorite Restaurant? Fresco Italian Cafe in Salt Lake City

Who is your hero? My Dr. Gooch.  For so many reasons and mostly putting up with me.

Your advice to other moms: Stay one step ahead.  Children are super smart and depend on you to direct those sharp minds.  I nearly always encounter “breakdown” when I let them get ahead of me.  This isn’t easy.  Also, smile at their grungy little faces.  It has the power to change the mood of a little person.  Do something new everyday.  Say “I love you” 20 times a day at least.  Keep it simple stupid.  Ignore the mess.

Thank you Jordan, I have fallen in love with her blog, it helps that it is first in my Google Reader then I always see it. I just adore it, be sure to make a visit.

I love the idea of a music room. I can’t wait to get to know more of her ideas.

Loved this interview. I am definitely going to go check out her blog.

    A few comments:
    A. I have always wanted to visit North Carolina.
    B. Plates of really good food make me happy too. I’m so glad she said that.
    C. My husband and I also have a dream of traveling abroad with our kids…when they are a little older.
    D. I’m never bored either. Ever. There is always *something* to do. In fact, I haven’t been bored in YEARS.

Thanks for featuring such fabulous women on Mondays, Vanessa!
