One Word that Describes You:

Happy (and since it took me forever to decide on just one word I’ll have to add – Indecisive)  😉

What makes you smile? So many little things…  my girls laughing, my husband’s sarcasm, pajamas, organizing, the flowers in my yard, school supplies, taking pictures, a good hair day, completing a project or checking something off my to-do list.  The other night my 5 year old called me up to her room after I’d put her to bed and said “I just wanted to tell you that I’m so glad you’re my mommy.”  That quickly brought a smile.  And a tear.

What is one of your dreams you hope to accomplish soon? I dream of getting through the newborn stage of this next baby without completely losing it!  I don’t do well on little sleep and I’m worried that three will put me right over the edge

One of Your favorite motherhood moments?

This is hard – there are so many.  One of them was taking my three year old to her first day of preschool.  My five year old had just graduated from the same preschool and was so excited to go with us and show her little sister the ropes.  They were so adorable the whole morning.  Ellie held Addison’s hand and showed her where her cubby was, where to play at free time, how to “sit like a singer” at singing time.  I was a bit emotional seeing the two of them together  (they love each other so much and were being incredibly sweet) and just thinking about how it seemed like just yesterday that I was bringing Ellie to this preschool for the first time with Addison in a baby carrier.  One of those moments when it hit me how fast they are growing and how much they mean to me.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Candy and pedicures.  I love candy – Sweethearts, Sprees, Lemonheads – anything a little sour or sweet.  I also LOVE getting pedicures.  I justify them quite easily since I live in a place where we wear sandals all year long.

What do you love most about you? Probably my optimism.  I’m a pretty “glass half full” kind of gal.

Favorite place? I’ve only been once, but Kenny and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary with a 10 day trip to Italy.  It was the most amazing vacation I’ve ever been on!  I’ll never forget all of the neat things we saw and did together…and all of the amazing food we ate!  I dream about going back someday soon.  Our favorite family vacation spot is Maui.

Favorite Holiday? Like a lot of other people I’m going to have to say Christmas.  It doesn’t get any better than the month of December.  I love the meaning, the music, the lights, the decorations, the shopping, the treats, the overall excitement of it all.  I’m not one of those people who get annoyed when Christmas decorations start popping up in Costco in August…I say bring it on!!!  It’s such a happy, fun time of year.

Who is your hero? My husband.  He rescues me from financial peril, emotional breakdowns and computer catastrophes on a daily basis.  😉

Your advice to other moms: Try to take a little time out each day to spend with your kids.  Not time when you are feeding them, bathing them, shuttling them around, etc., time that you are totally present and in the moment with them.  Read them a book, play with them, do a craft together… something that shows them they have your complete attention and makes them feel special and loved.  I set a goal awhile back to do this each day and I feel like it has really helped me to enjoy this precious time I have with them.  We all know that it goes by way too fast!
