Monday: Weekly Family Activity—Faith

February 16th, 2009 in Monday: Weekly Family Activity

My parents always encouraged me to respect and honor other’s faiths. When invited by friends to go to church outings they encouraged me to go. Visiting other religion’s places of worship, church services, youth group outings, etc. helped me to learn to appreciate diversity. One of my most treasured experiences was when the Dalai Lama came to Utah, I learned so much from him.

My family and I are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also known as Mormons). I would like to invite you   to visit my church’s new Draper Utah Temple. They are holding an open house where you can tour the temple until March 14th, click here for reservations. This would be a fantastic family outing, children are more than welcome to come along.

Isn’t it beautiful   ?

If you are not in the area of the temple I invite you  to visit a temple near you. You won’t be able to take tour (unless they are building a new one and have announced an open house) but you can walk along the outside, view the beautiful gardens many of them have and attend the visitors center nearby that many of them have also. For more information on finding one near you, click here.

I grew up near the Washington D.C. temple and as a family we would drive to just walk the temple grounds, visit the visitors center, see the Christmas lights and attend the wonderful concerts they have available for the public to attend (in the visitors center).

If you take the time to go be sure to send me a note, I would love to hear! For more information on my religion you can visit our website.
