What makes you smile? My children, Lisa Hannigan’s Lille music video,
Kevin Henkes’ books, vintage paper doll set from Rebecca, our local library and cleaning.
What is one of your dreams you hope to accomplish soon? I would really love to make my mother’s 50th birthday (coming up this summer!) a wonderful and remarkable affair. I’m not much of a party person and neither is she, so I’ll have to get creative.
One of Your favorite motherhood moments? Would you think I was being cheeky if I said most of them? Lotioning a dry boy before bed, plucking a wild-haired, rosy-cheeked girl from her crib in the morning, easy conversations and sleepy eyes around the breakfast table, peeking in on the children after they’ve fallen asleep for the night and feeling like the only things that exist in that moment are me, them and love.
What is your guilty pleasure? Late night blog-hopping, Junior Mints, an afternoon nap (but oh! how I pay for those,) buying the spicy salsa so I don’t have to share with my kids.
What do you love most about you? That I genuinely like myself
and that I make a dang good batch of chocolate chip cookies.
Favorite Holiday? Probably a tie between Christmas (lights, music, baking) & Valentine’s Day (pink, red, kissing).
Who is your hero? Oh, I have several. they are mostly strong, steady women. i am inspired by quiet courage, unfettered creativity, true kindness, gentleness and confidence.
Your advice to other moms:
1. kids need to work – give them lots of jobs
2. love it all
3. play in the rain

One day Emily and I will be neighbors and she will share her chocolate chip cookies with me. I like that woman.
