Liz Lemon Swindle

January 20th, 2011 in Life, Love of Local in Utah

Liz Lemon Swindle is an artist I was able to meet. I got to tour her studio and watch her whole process last November with some other bloggers in Utah.

I already knew who she was because of these two beautiful photos that have been at the top of my MUST HAVE SOMEDAY list as soon as I first saw them.

Oh, but this one…this one titled “Worth of a Soul” was in my top three. My husband bought it for me for Christmas. I finally got it back from the framing store and it is hanging in our main room.  I love to walk past and look at it every single day.

Why? Because it reminds me of my son and my brother who I will meet someday. I feel like this is the most important “family picture” that hangs in my home.

Back to meeting Liz Lemon Swindle. I didn’t realize her process of coming up with a new piece. We watched her begin her “session” with a prayer and reading of a scripture. Then they actually do a photography shoot of the painting she wants to do. This one was a modern day version of “The Good Samaritan” and it was very special to be a part of. Also, forgive the horrible, wind blown hair look in the picture below of Liz and me since we were outside for a while watching her.
