Little Critter Tea Party

September 2nd, 2010 in party time

The girls wanted to throw a tea party over the summer with their neighborhood friends and, of course, I said we shall! I mean, how do you say no to requests like that? The night before the party, Abby and I sat down to think of what we were going to do and we decided on a Little Critter Tea Party!

For decor, we used our set-up that we use for every single party and birthday celebration (and we still are in love with it).

This is what was on the menu and agenda:

Making ladybug cupcakes (they didn’t turn out but it was still fun)

Making paper flowers (just a pipe cleaner, button and scrapbook paper cut out into a flower shape)

Eating a caterpillar of fruit, peanut butter & jelly butterfly sandwiches (made by cutting the sandwich into triangles with carrot sticks as antennae) and pink lemonade for tea

Side Note: I took lots of pictures of the flowers, cupcakes, other food and the girls having fun.  But I get really nervous posting pictures of other children.  And even if you ask, sometimes people just say yes to be nice. Do you worry about that with your blog?  What do you do?

I always ask. Several friends have given me free-reign in regard to posting pictures of their family members. There are also times when I’ve asked others for permission, they say yes…then they forgot that they said yes (and I was happy that knowing the friend I hadn’t done the post)…I decided just yesterday that in such cases, I’m going to insist that they put their approval in writing. : )

Your party looks very sweet! I love the fruity caterpillar!

    The fruit looks delish.

I don’t ask, but I don’t do it very often. I guess if you are worried I would blurry faces out using photoshop if you really wanted to use the pictures.

Lately I’ve just been trying to avoid it, but sometimes it is really hard. I don’t know what etiquette is involved with putting pictures of other peoples kids on a blog. Like when I get really good pictures or video of my son during a soccer game, do I post it because it’s awesome, or do I not to protect the other kids privacy? I don’t know, however if someone else were posting something similar on their blog and my son happened to be in the background I wouldn’t mind. I guess you just have to be careful and avoid it as much as possible.

What a lovely tea party! Love the cute fruit caterpillar! So creative!

It may seem formal, but you could have photo releases that you have the moms sign in case you use their photos or mention them. As a photographer I do that with my blog, especially when shooting families or kids. :)

I kind of want to be a 3 year old in your neighborhood.

Your caterpillar is so cute! What child wouldn’t want to eat all that colorful, delicious fruit?

Also – your table is positively magical.

Finally, I do worry about posting photos of other people’s kids…actually, other people, in general. I tend to just stick with my immediate family unless I get very specific permission.
