Holiday Floral Gift Idea

December 17th, 2010 in Crafts, party time

During our night out at Thanksgiving Point the lady at the floral section of the Emporium showed us a great holiday gift idea. I think this would be an awesome gift for a teacher, extended family member, neighbor, or small gift exchange. These are pictures of the 30 I made at my house yesterday for neighbor gifts.

So no, this did not come from my brain but the brains of the lovely ladies at the Thanksgiving Point Emporium.  That is one of the reasons I love browsing around over there.  It fills your mind with really fantastic ideas to do at home. Oh, and it’s also a great place to buy matching frilly aprons for all THREE girls…just you wait till you see them!

Holiday Floral Gift Idea

Supplies:

Small Terracotta Pots

Potting Soil

Bulbs; Amaryllis or Paper White (Paper White Bulbs are about 5x less than the Amaryllis)

Moss

Burlap Cloth

Holly Berries

Green Floral Plant

Instructions:

1. Fill pots a little over halfway full with dirt. Then place in bulb and fill in more soil around it. Now if you pick pots that don’t have drainage you need to put some small pebbles in the bottom before the dirt.

2. Place moss on top around the opening of the bulb and give it a bit of water.

3. Decorate with a strip of burlap. When tying it, add in a sprig of holly and green floral.

4. I added a tag that describes when it should bloom (3-4 weeks), who it is from and what kind of bulb it is. Such a perfect holiday floral gift idea. Thanks, Thanksgiving Point!
