Fab Book Finds Finally

June 22nd, 2009 in Tuesday: Weekly Book Review

It has been a few weeks since I have found a children’s book that I just love and this weekend I found FOUR!

Could You? Would You? by Trudy White is a breath of fresh air, something new that will make you stop and notice things with your children. It will make you and your kids laugh, think, talk, draw, write and explore the world. We take this book with us when he go out in nature and have a ball.

Someday by Alison Meghee and Peter H. Reynolds is one of those books that gets you all teary eyed-and on a bad day, full out crying! It holds such a beautiful message to share with my daughters; this will be a book we cherish for a long time. Every sentence in this book I hope for my girls…”Someday your eyes will be filled with a joy so deep that they shine.”

My Forever Dress by Harriet Ziefert, illustrated by Liz Murphy is ADORABLE and I think we love it so much because Abby has a skirt her grandma made her that reminds me so much of the girl’s dress in this book. The illustrations are so bright and colorful, just reading the book gives you a pick-me-up for your day. The story is about sewing, economizing, recycling, and sharing…and we just love it!

Half of an Elephant by Gusti is another very unqie book and we had fun studying the author’s style. One night, all of a sudden, the world split in two. An elephant loses his back half and the sections wander around the world trying out new partners and discovering the advantages of being separate. Suddenly things snap back into place and the two are reunited (but not quite the same as before). If you have kids that are into tools and small objects they will love noticing all the springs, bolts, nails, etc. in each of the collage pictures.
