“Cooking Segments”–Kid’s Snacks

Now listen, these are only our first two cooking segments. Pretty soon we will be so professional! I am focusing on just quick kids’ snacks; here are our first two videos!

Granola Bars for Hiking (this recipes makes about a half of a cookie pan)

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup granola (I recommended the organic Ginger Snap Granola from Harmon’s)

1/2 cup wheat flour (I recommended King Arthur’s—no yuckies in it, not bleached and milled in the U.S.A.!)

1 organic free range egg

1/3 cup oil

2 tsp cinnamon

1/3 cup honey

Preheat the oven to 325. Line a cookie sheet with foil so the edges hang over.

Mix all of the above ingredients well.

Spread out the mixture on the baking sheet and cook for about 30 minutes or until brown. (At my house I actually only had to cook it for 20, but at my old house it took 30…who knows? Just be careful!)

Let chill for 2 hours, flip over onto cutting board and cut with a sharp knife.

Nutty Jumbles (makes about 8-10)
1 1/4 cup mixed unsalted nuts
1/4 cup organic brown sugar
1 free range egg white
1 tsp vanilla
Pinch of sea salt

Preheat the oven to 350 and prepare a cookie sheet with a buttered piece of foil on top.

Mix all of the above ingredients well.

Drop spoonfuls on tray and cook for 7-8 minutes or until brown. Let cool and enjoy your healthy snack!

* When more kiddos are over I double the recipeā€”it doubles easily!

* I have also chopped the nuts; this works well too!
