Chevy Malibu’s Trunk Space…the MOM test.

September 20th, 2010 in About Me

When we were introduced to our new Chevy cars (mine being the Chevy Malibu), one of the things everyone in front of and behind the scenes was raving about was the trunk space.

Could it really be that fabulous? In a SEDAN? Hmm… I would have to find out for myself.  I am a tough win-over and need to experience things on my own.  So Chevy sent me on my first “mission” with a $100 gift card to go buy groceries and see how it fit in the trunk space on the car.

But, come on, of COURSE $100 of groceries is going to fit in the back of a sedan whether it has horrible or fabulous trunk space.  So I put the Chevy Malibu to the TRUE test…the MOM test.

What mom goes to the grocery store with an already empty trunk?  Am I the only one that has strollers, bikes, scooters, other bags and undone projects sitting in the back of her car?  So I threw all of THAT into the back of the trunk and THEN went grocery shopping.

Check out my video to see if it passed the “mom” test:

You will notice in the video that the first thing I tried to do is put my double stroller in the trunk (which I always drive around with because, listen, I have two toddlers 16 months apart and it is a must-have item for me!).  Sad to say, this expensive, made-to-fold-very-nicely stroller would not fit in the trunk and I tried it a few different ways. To be fair, in my mini van, the stroller is the ONLY thing that fits in my trunk and I end up using my passenger seat as my “trunk.”

I ALSO took this “mom” test up to the next level, and along with the umbrella stroller, scooters, baby shower bags and $100 dollar of groceries…I went to Costco so I could buy those huge items: paper towels, diapers, baby wipes, toilet paper and a few things of pasta.

GUESS WHAT? It all fit in that trunk.

I know.  Awesome.

Disclaimer: Chevy provided me with a $100 gift card to buy the groceries and has given me the Chevy Malibu for one month to test out.
