Carmen Agra Deedy

September 15th, 2009 in Tuesday: Weekly Book Review

(If at all possible, this woman is even more beautiful in person- just stunning!)

Carmen Agra Deedy is an author and a story teller.  We are just entranced by her at my house since attending the Timpanogos Story Festival. On the way out from the festival, we picked up her audio of Martina the Beautiful Cockroach and the book The Library Dragon.

We have read and listened to the books over and over and have not tired of them in the slightest! She has such a beautiful voice.   When I was at the festival, I was just walking by her tent, and her voice stopped me in my tracks.  We sat down and were once again…just entranced!

Carmen was born in Havana, Cuba.  She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1963 after the Cuban Revolution. Deedy grew up in Decatur, Georgia and currently lives in Atlanta with three daughters.

Can you even imagine what her voice sounds like with those two accents mixed together?  Beautiful, just draws you in.

The books we picked up and just love are:

You can listen to one of her stories here and become a huge fan like us.
