Baby Girl’s Room Makeover: Project #3–Toy Chest

February 19th, 2010 in Crafts

I did it! Don’t look TOO closely at the pictures because I honestly should not be allowed to paint things.  But I still love the outcome of my idea.

Before Picture:

I stripped all of the paint off of this toy chest.  Who knew it would take so long? I’ll tell you why I took so long…about halfway through, I realized I had not SHAKEN the paint remover can and so whatever was floating on the top half was not doing it’s job. Who knew you needed to shake those kinds of things (I knew), and that you waste hours and hours in the middle of the night….

Then I painted the chest a “cloud blue,” as the girls said.  That will be nice because I can always make it work for a boy (No, Grandmas. I am not pregnant).

Then I picked up some really cute whimsical bird themed paper from Roberts.  It’s from the Abbey Road Line, I believe.

I Mod Podged those suckers on…

Look at the finished product.  I just love it! It will sit at the end of her bed with her favorite “Fairy Houses” sitting on top.

I want to tackle an old dresser with the mod podge. I guess you’re recommending it, huh? Well, shake first and then go for it. Any other tips? I’m still scared!

Love this makeover! I recently made over a toy chest myself, and in searching for photos, ran across your blog! The mod podge is a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
