Just Give In!
I have a horrible day dreaming problem. Sometimes in my mind I want my life to be just like the movies, usually I live in the house from Father of the Bride and my children act like Von Trapps from the Sound of Music. We all have matching blue dresses, that I have made out of old curtains, sing beautifully and can go on bike rides without getting hurt or screaming. The only adult show I get to watch usually is the Martha Stewart Show. I think I secretly want to be her.

In my mind my Family Night Activity will have prepared crafts to do for the kids, organic stuffed apples for dessert, sitting by the fireplace…Tyler and I will smile lovingly at each-other while our children carefully finish their crafts, not a mess in sight.

Don’t get me wrong, I love crafts and stuffed apples….BUT you know what we decide to do most the time? What makes my daughters smile, no matter how silly or simple it may seem.

This Monday we just sang songs for about 30 minutes while she took turns sitting in our laps. Laurie Berkner’s Buzz Buzz is her favorite, her Daddy jumps around the room acting like a bumble bee which just cracks the kids up.

Some Mondays we have a prepared activity, we try to sit down and do something all together as a family at least once a week. And this week, was one of the best, just giving in and doing exactly what I knew would make them smile.
