Amanda & Her Alligator! by Mo Willems

July 20th, 2011 in Books/Reading, Children's Books

There is still time to sign up for your local library’s summer reading program! For this whole week I’ll share some of our recent, pretty awesome book finds.

Yeah! Mo Willems has a new book. I love all of his books (you guys know that). Amanda & Her Alligator! by Mo Willems is another home run. It is so clever and witty and I love the way it is set up. It’s set up as a chapter book in a picture book and in a really funny way. Oh, it is so hard to explain. I think you should just check it out to see!

About the story though: Amanda has to leave sometimes to go out and about and when she does, she leaves her alligator behind. He gets sooooOooooO bored and a bit clingy when she comes back, which makes the story really funny and relatable as a mom. Don’t worry, though. At the end of the book he makes a new friend and they have a ball together, solving that problem of his.

Once again this book is written by an adult who understands and knows children. To be honest, if I ever meet him I won’t be surprised to hear him TALK like a child. Kind of like me. The jokes that he puts in this book have the kids busting up laughing.

You must try out Amanda & Her Alligator! by Mo Willems.
